Umesh Maheshwari has over 20 years of experience building networked storage systems. Before founding Nimble Storage, he was a technical director at Data Domain, responsible for the core areas of deduplication and clustering. As an early engineer at Data Domain, he built significant parts of the Data Domain file system and replication protocol. Previously, Umesh was at Zambeel, a maker of scalable file servers, where he was responsible for clusterizing the metadata service and for automating the cluster network configuration. Before Zambeel, he was at InterTrust, a pioneer in digital rights management, where he built a patented tamper-resistant database system. Umesh holds a PhD in computer science from MIT, where he researched storage management in distributed transactional systems. He also holds a BTech in computer science from IIT Delhi, where he received the President’s Gold Medal as the top graduating student.
