Troy Clair is Senior Manager for Public Policy at Amazon where he focuses on education policy and outreach regarding Amazon’s community engagement programs. Prior to this role, Troy served a decade on Capitol Hill most recently as Chief of Staff to Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC), after having been the Deputy Outreach Director for House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD). While serving as chief, Troy was the co-lead of the Congressional Black Caucus TECH 2020 diversity initiative. Troy has also served in the Executive Branch when he was appointed Senior Advisor to the Assistant Treasury Secretary for Financial Stability by President Obama. Troy has held leadership roles on national campaigns including his service as North Carolina State Director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. A Brooklyn, New York native, Troy is a Truman Scholar who graduated cum laude from Duke University. Throughout all of his work, Troy continues to pursue his passion of coaching leaders on ways to make their mark on the world.
