Stefan has over 25 years of experience in the IC industry and is currently holding the position as Senior Principal Security Chip Architectures, heading the Technical Marketing and System Concept Engineering of the Business Line Smart Card Solutions at Infineon Technologies. He and his group is responsible for technical product definition and requirement capturing for Infineons smart card products. Prior to this role he worked for over 15 years in various positions within the Technology and Innovation department of the Chip Card & Security division mainly for Concept Engineering and Innovation. He was one of the main drivers of the Integrity Guard security concept and was heading the concept engineering group responsible for the technical specification of the 16-bit and 32-bit smart card products. Before joining Infineon in 2000 he started his professional career in 1990 within the DOSIS GmbH (Germany and USA) as Application Engineer for IC design tools. In 1995 he received the Dr.-Ing. degree with the thesis “VLSI-based implementation and embedded application of artificial neural networks”. From 1995 to 2000 Stefan was Chief Engineer at Heinz Nixdorf Institute in Paderborn, heading a research group with focus on “decentral, intelligent systems in automation technology”. Stefan studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Dortmund.
