Robert Blumenthal is a veteran telecommunications executive with more than 25 years of experience in the wireless communications and digital media industries.

As the former president of Virgin Mobile Canada, Robert led the transformation of the once low-value prepaid service provider into a high-value, fiercely competitive, full-service postpaid services brand with national presence. Virgin Mobile Canada is now a wholly owned division of Bell Canada.

Previously, Robert held a number of positions that helped drive innovation in wireless and telecommunications including, CEO of Digit Wireless, a user interface technology licensing firm, senior vice president of products and services at TELUS, one of Canada’s leading telecommunications companies, and vice president at Clearnet, an early PCS new entrant that was subsequently acquired by TELUS.

Robert led the introduction of Clearnet’s Mike service based on Motorola’s IDEN technology in 1996, and played a key role in the company’s rollout of PCS services in 1997. To name a few, Robert subsequently led the development and market introduction of such services as push-to-talk, inter-carrier SMS, picture messaging, mobile music, and mobile TV.
