Nick Roberts is a scientific co-founder and the inventor of ZeaKal’s underlying technology portfolio. He has 12 completed biotechnology patents, five of which have been exclusively licensed into ZeaKal. Nick Roberts continues to lead the company’s science strategy including research efforts to develop next generation products.

Nick Roberts was also a co-founder of Algenetix where he served as CSO prior to the acquisition by ZeaKal. Nick Roberts continues his research as a principal scientist of the Recombinant Protein Applications Group at AgResearch, which he has led since 2001.

In 2015, Nick Roberts was awarded NZBIO’s Biotechnologist of the Year in recognition of his work. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate at the University of Tasmania and has overwintered as a biologist for the Australian Antarctic Division. He has also worked as a research fellow at the University of Tasmania and completed two postdoctoral fellowships at the University of California, Davis.
