Michael Zeisser is Chairman US Investments for Alibaba Group, one of the largest internet companies in the world, where he is responsible for backing entrepreneurial teams working on innovative platforms, products and ideas with a focus on Internet commerce and emerging technologies.Prior to Alibaba Group, Michael spent almost a decade leading activities in digital media and Internet commerce at Liberty Media. Michael created and oversaw Liberty Media's Digital Commerce Group, a roll-up of specialty online retail companies which grew to generate revenues of $1.5 billion and comprised leading brands such as Proflowers.com, RedEnvelope.com, Gifts.com, Backcountry.com, Bodybuilding.com, Motosport.com, and Evite.com.Prior to joining Liberty Media in 2003, Zeisser was a partner at McKinsey & Company in New York, where he co-founded and led McKinsey's Internet Practice, in addition to being a member of the firm's Media & Entertainment and Private Equity practices. Zeisser was one of McKinsey's leading experts on internet businesses and digital transition strategies in the consumer media, advertising, travel, and packaged goods industries.Zeisser has previously served on the boards of Trip Advisor (Nasdaq:TRIP), IAC/InterActiveCorp. (Nasdaq:IACI), QVC Inc, GSN - The Network for Games, and Sling Media. He is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado, and the Media Advisory Group of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.Zeisser earned a business degree with honors from the University of Strasbourg, France and an MBA with distinction from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where he was a Procter & Gamble International Academic Scholar.
