Marvin is a leading First Amendment lawyer and Internet policy expert. He was instrumental to the adoption of network neutrality rules in the US and abroad, and also to the defeat of the SOPA and PIPA copyright/censorship bills. Partly for his role in opposing SOPA and PIPA, Marvin was recognized on Fast Company’s 2012 “100 Most Creative People in Business.” He later proposed a holiday called “Internet Freedom Day,” to be celebrated on January 18 – the anniversary of the SOPA Blackout. Marvin is a Bernard L. Schwartz Fellow at the New America Foundation and serves on the boards of public interest advocacy groups Demand Progress and Fight for the Future. Marvin is also a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a member of the Council’s Term Member Advisory Committee.
