After completing a degree in mechanical engineering design, and a master’s degree in automotive engineering, Mark joined Nissan’s European Technical Centre in 1991, initially in the engine design department.

Mark then transferred to the materials design department,where he hasbeen involved in
the design and development of material applications for Nissan’s European product range.
Following formation of the Renault - Nissan alliance, Mark worked on material synergies and European polymer strategy, with projects focussed on materials for reducing vehicle weight, and material rationalisation / recycling in support of End of Life Vehicle (ELV) issues.

After a secondment to Nissan’s Global Technical Centre in Japan, Mark was promoted to the position of manager within the materials department, taking responsibility for all material applications in Europe, from new material development to ELV aspects– a ‘cradle to grave’ responsibility.
