Joy Dunn is currently the Senior Manager of New Product Introduction at SpaceX where she leads the business-wide task force to take new rockets and spacecraft from design concept into production. In her year and a half in that role, she has introduced a number of new systems and company-wide processes to enable SpaceX’s rapid pace of innovation on products ranging from the upgraded Falcon 9 rocket to the Crew Dragon spacecraft. In her previous 8 years at SpaceX, Joy was heavily involved with the manufacturing of the Dragon spacecraft and played an integral role in SpaceX’s achievement of being the first private company to launch a spacecraft in orbit and also to dock with the International Space Station. Joy also co-founded both the Women’s Network and LGBTQ employee resource groups at SpaceX and she is actively involved in STEM outreach events. Last year, Joy was named to Business Insider’s list of the Most Powerful Female Engineers of 2017. Joy received her B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2008 and currently resides in Hermosa Beach, CA. She hopes to someday fly into space aboard SpaceX’s Mars vehicle.
