John Regan is a Managing Director of IllinoisVENTURES and a Partner of the Illinois Emerging Technologies Fund. He focuses on physical sciences, with particular emphasis on advanced materials, device physics, and clean technology applications. Prior to IllinoisVENTURES, John spent fourteen years in Venture Capital, as a Managing Director of Keystone Venture Partners from 1995 to 2003 and as a Principal of Apex Venture Partners from 1989 to 1995. Several of John’s investments were acquired or went public including CDnow, Imaging Automation, VST Technologies, Mothers Work and Arnold Palmer Golf. John currently sits on the boards of several companies including Eden Park Illumination, Advanced Diamond Technologies, DzymeTech, Semprius, and Autonomic Materials and has collaborated on coverage of several other investments. From 1983 to 1989, John was in the Advanced Programs Department for General Dynamics - Fort Worth Aerospace Division. There he focused on advanced technology programs, held a top-secret security clearance, and was awarded the General Dynamics Educational Fellowship and Emerald Recognition Award for extraordinary achievement. John has BS and MS degrees in General Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
