John M. Lervik is the CEO of cXense and is in charge of the strategic direction of the company.

Before founding cXense, Dr. Lervik was a co-founder of Fast Search & Transfer (FAST). He served as CTO from 1997 to 2001, and then as CEO until Microsoft acquired the company in 2008. Following the acquisition, he served as CEO and a corporate vice president of enterprise search in Microsoft until 2009.

In 2005, Dr. Lervik was one of technology innovators named as part of the prestigious Forbes E-Gang. Lervik holds a PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where he was awarded the Esso prize for the best overall PhD in 1996/97.
