James H. Hance Jr. was elected to the Ford Motor Company board of directors in 2010. He serves on the audit committee, finance committee and nominating and governance committee.He is former chief financial officer and vice chairman of Bank of America, retiring in 2005 after 18 years with the company. He is an operating executive and board member at The Carlyle Group.A certified public accountant, Hance spent 17 years with Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Philadelphia and Charlotte, North Carolina. From August 1985 until December 1986, he was chairman and co-owner of Consolidated Coin Caterers. In March 1987, he joined NCNB, predecessor to Bank of America.Hance serves on the boards of Acuity Brands, Cousins Properties and Duke Energy. He is a trustee of Washington University in St. Louis and Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.He earned a bachelor’s degree from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and a master’s degree in business from Washington University.
