Gianfranco Lanci is corporate president and chief operating officer (COO) of Lenovo Group.Within his role as corporate president, Gianfranco leads Lenovo’s Intelligent Device Group (IDG), delivering PC, mobile and smart device solutions to customers. As COO, he maintains overall operational responsibility for the geography organizations, global accounts, Lenovo’s e-commerce business and the global supply chain. Prior to these, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, leading Lenovo's global PC and Smart Device business (PCSD) as well as Lenovo's EMEA region and the Asia Pacific markets of Australia, Japan and New Zealand. Gianfranco joined Lenovo in April 2012 as president of the company’s EMEA geography and senior vice president of Lenovo Group. He was responsible for all business across Lenovo’s largest geography – which included 121 countries, 50 offices and 3,000 employees. In only 2 years, he grew Lenovo’s business in EMEA from #5 to #2 in the PC market, achieving a 15.3% market share.His career started at Texas Instruments (TI) in 1981 where he served in several roles during his 17-year tenure, most notably as country manager for the Printers and Portable Computers Division in Italy and Middle East and Africa, then as president for TI’s Productivity Products Division in EMEA.Following Acer’s acquisition of TI’s notebook division in 1997, Gianfranco became managing director of Acer Italy, followed by president of EMEA in 2002. In 2005 he was appointed as president of Acer Inc and in 2008 he became CEO (chief executive officer) and president. Under his leadership Acer became the #2 PC company in the world – achieving record profitability for three consecutive years.Gianfranco graduated from the Politecnico of Turin where he earned his degree in civil engineering. Lanci resides in Lugano and is married with three children.
