Erich Klemm was born April 25, 1954 in Sindelfingen, Germany. After gaining his intermediate high school certificate, Erich Klemm trained from 1970 to 1973 as an apprentice machine fitter at Daimler-Benz AG's Sindelfingen plant. He subsequently worked from 1973 to 1978 as a machine fitter in the process design section at the Sindelfingen plant. He then attended external further education courses to gain a qualification in human resources, and completed a REFA training course.Between 1971 and 1978 Erich Klemm was chairman of the young employees' representative body on the Works Council of the Sindelfingen plant, and from 1972 to 1978 chairman of the young employees' representative body on the General Works Council. He was then elected to the Works Council as a full-time member. Erich Klemm has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Daimler-Benz AG since 1988, has been the chairman of the Sindelfingen plant Works Council since 1989, and chairman of the company`s General Works Council since 1999.He currently holds the following positions: deputy chairman of the Supervisory Board, chairman of the Group Works Council, chairman of the European Works Council, chairman of the World Employee Committee.
