From 2006-2011, Ed served as the 38th director of the United States Mint. He was responsible for running the world’s largest manufacturer of circulating coins, precious metal bullion, and numismatic products. His role included working closely with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Congress, and the Federal Reserve, especially during the Financial Crisis and Great Recession.

From 2001-2006, he served as a special assistant to the president for presidential personnel at the White House. He was responsible for recommending to the president candidates to serve in the highest levels of federal government and helped stand up the new U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Ed was one of the first senior federal government officials to embrace the potential of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. His advocacy continues today through frequent media appearances, conference speaker, and as a board member or an advisor to companies that have the potential to shape this new industry, including ICOx Innovations (ITCPK:ICOX), AID:Tech, and OmniSparx.

He has serves as an advisor to Boxcar (an integrated commuting company), Valaurum (sells the smallest verifiable unit of gold in the world), the executive advisory board of Seattle Pacific University’s School of Business & Economics, and is a Policy Fellow with the American Conservative Union.
