Dr. Okazaki, who has served as an adviser to SmartNews since 2013, is an associate professor at the Graduate School of Information Sciences, Tohoku University. He previously worked as a research fellow at the National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM) in 2005, and as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Tokyo from 2007 until 2011. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Information Science and Technology in 2007. His research interests include natural language processing, text mining, and machine learning. He has published a number of papers on natural language processing, and has received several awards from, among others, Microsoft Research Asia (2008), the Information Processing Society of Japan (2010), and the Japanese Association for Natural Language Processing (2010, 2013).
