Brian Gu is Chairman of Asia Pacific Investment Banking for J.P. Morgan and a member of the Asia Pacific Management Committee. He is also a member of J.P. Morgan’s Global Strategic Advisory Council.Brian Gu has held a variety of leadership roles in investment banking and is instrumental in building J.P. Morgan’s franchise in the Asia Pacific region. Gu was previously the Asia Pacific Head of M&A, TMT, Healthcare and Sponsor businesses for J.P. Morgan. He was also the Head of Investment Banking in China, responsible for all client coverage, M&A and corporate finance businesses in the region. Gu joined J.P. Morgan in 2004 in Hong Kong and was promoted to Managing Director in early 2007.Prior to J.P. Morgan, Gu worked at the global M&A and global Healthcare groups of Lehman Brothers in New York from 1998-2004. During his investment banking career, Gu has advised numerous industry leading companies on their landmark transactions totaling over $200 billion of transaction volume.Prior to his Wall Street career, Gu was a senior research scientist at the University of Washington Medical School. He holds an MBA from Yale University, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Washington Medical School, and a bachelor degree in Chemistry from the University of Oregon.
