Growing up in South Florida I was always active in competitive sports. However, in my early thirties, I began to focus too heavily on my career and stopped being physically active. This neglect led to a serious weight problem and I found myself weighing over 300lbs. After suffering a weight-related injury, I decided to return to a healthy lifestyle and two years later I had safely lost 120lbs.

Brett began his first programming job at the age of 13. After three years and earning multiple degrees from Florida State University he returned to the workforce. Eventually, in 2007, he joined Google and where he worked as a backend system engineer for Gmail. Brett has focused on security, data encryption, and server reliability throughout his career and he brings these skills to Hi.Q.
