Agnes Mwang’ombe is a full professor of plant pathology and currently a Principal, at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She has served as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Nairobi. On 12th December 2008, she was awarded EBS By His Excellency The President of the Republic of Kenya in recognition of Academic Work in the Country.

In 2009, Prof. Mwang’ombe was awarded by the Africa Crop Science Society the certificate for outstanding contribution to crop production in Africa as the best woman Agricultural researcher in Africa. As an eminent scholar, her research works are well published in peer reviewed journals.

She served as the first chairperson of Kenya Professional Association of Women in Agriculture and Environment (KEPAWAE) from 1995 to 2001 where she initiated a girlchild scholarship program and mentorship for the same girls. She is a professional mentor to upcoming young professionals and also to women scientists and was actively involved in the activities as a Vice-Chair and member of the Advisory/Steering Committee under the AWARD Initiative which was lead by the Gender and Diversity Program of CGIAR.

Prof. Mwang’ombe has served and continues to serve on a number of national and international committees and boards in various capacities, such as Board Member of Kenya Commercial Bank, President of African Crop Science Society, Advisory Board Member and Scientific Advisory Committee Member at the CTA (Ede, Netherlands, upto 2012), Technical Advisory Committee Member for BASIC, Technical Advisory Committee Member at the RUFORUM (Kampala, Uganda), Director in ASALFO, Advisory Panel Committee Member at Farm Africa (Nairobi, Kenya), Chairperson at the Kenyan Institute for Public Policy, Research and Analysis, Board Member of ATPS, Board member of Vision 2030 Delivery Board , Board Member of FEP and member of Consortium Board of CGIAR.
