UYRobot is born as spin off of Butiá Project of Faculty of Engineering of the UdelaR.
UYRobot is born as spin off of Butiá Project of Faculty of Engineering of the UdelaR. This project consisted of developing a robot for educational purposes and accessible. From the first moment they had the support of Faculty of Engineering through Emprenur and Socialab. Their first steps were realizing awareness workshops with the Butiá robot in various institutions, but in order to convert Butiá into a finished and marketable product, an investment was needed, through the support of the incubator Sinergia and the seed capital of ANII UYRobot achieves Materialize the product and make the first sales by the middle of 2015. Today UYRobot has an office located in Sinergia tech offering the Butiá kit as its star product along with other robotics kits as well as different courses and training on robotics in general. At the moment there are about 400 Butiá robots in all Uruguay and some distributed in other parts of the world. UYRobot is currently developing a new robot that is even more accessible than the robot Butiá and is suitable for the first steps in robotics with the desire to have one robot per child in order to contribute to the technological development in these areas and general education thereof.
